The SOF Tourniquet Wide from TacMed Solutions is a professional-grade tourniquet designed for rapid, effective bleeding control in prehospital and emergency environments.
Built through years of research, material testing, and end-user feedback, the SOF Tourniquet Wide is trusted by military forces, law enforcement, EMS, first responders, and prepared citizens around the world.
Now available in Black, Blue, and Orange variants.
When severe bleeding occurs, fast and effective intervention matters.
The SOF Tourniquet Wide is designed for one-handed or two-handed application and can be used on arms or legs. The buckle system allows the tourniquet to be opened and placed around difficult-to-access limbs, which is especially useful where the limb cannot easily be passed through the loop.
Its wide compression band, strong windlass, and secure locking system work together to provide controlled pressure and reliable application when seconds matter.
The SOF Tourniquet was originally designed by a Special Forces medic during deployment in Afghanistan in 2003.
Since then, the design has continued to evolve through field use, customer feedback, and material improvements. The result is a tourniquet focused on the features that matter most in emergency care: strength, speed, control, and reliability.
It is stronger, lighter, and easier to use than previous versions, while still retaining the rugged performance that made the SOF Tourniquet a trusted option worldwide.
The reinforced polyester webbing helps maximise compression during application.
At a true 1.5 inch width, the band is designed to move smoothly through the buckle for fast, snag-free operation, while helping minimise pressure loss after application.
A contrasting slack indicator wedge is stitched into the compression band below the windlass.
This provides a clear visual cue that excess slack has been removed before tightening — an important step in proper tourniquet application and one that can reduce the number of windlass rotations needed to achieve effective occlusion.
The advanced buckle design allows excess slack to be removed in one smooth motion.
It also helps stabilise the compression band at different angles of engagement, making the tourniquet easier to apply in difficult positions.
The buckle is made from a lightweight, high-strength composite material for improved durability without unnecessary bulk.
The 5.5 inch windlass is machined from a single piece of aircraft-grade aluminium bar stock.
Its textured surface and signature conical ends provide a secure grip for consistent torque, while the anodised finish helps improve durability in harsh conditions.
The TRAC helps hold the windlass in position before it is fully secured into the locking system.
This improves control during difficult applications, especially during one-handed use or when working under pressure.
Once tightened, the windlass is secured into the Tri-Ring Lock.
This helps prevent movement during patient handling, transport, or repositioning. The lock is designed to be manipulated with one hand, supporting practical use in real emergency scenarios.
The integrated time tag allows the application time to be recorded clearly.
Recording the time of tourniquet application is an important part of patient handover and emergency medical care.

A tourniquet is a critical bleeding-control device. Ensure you are familiar with proper tourniquet application and seek appropriate training where possible.
For training and repeated practice, consider using a dedicated training tourniquet so that your emergency-use tourniquet remains packed, clean, and ready for real-world use.
The SOF Tourniquet Wide is built for people who take bleeding control seriously – strong, smooth, and designed to perform when every second counts.
